Forex compounding calculator

Compounding means each period's return is earned on the balance including earlier returns. This calculator applies a fixed rate per period and adds an optional deposit at the end of each period. Real trading returns vary from period to period and can be negative, so treat the result as arithmetic, not a forecast.

How it is calculated

  • Balance after each period = previous balance × (1 + rate ÷ 100) + deposit

Worked example

1,000 starting balance at 10% per period for 3 periods, no deposits: 1,100.00, then 1,210.00, then 1,331.00.

Assumptions and practical examples

A period is the interval you choose: 12 periods at a monthly return means 12 months, while 12 periods at a daily return means 12 days. The tool does not automatically convert annual returns to daily or monthly returns. Deposits are added at the end of each period.

Negative-return example: 1,000 at −10% per period becomes 900 after one period and 810 after two, with no deposits. Real returns vary and may be negative; a fixed-rate projection is arithmetic, not an expected trading return.

Questions

Can I enter a negative rate?

Yes, any rate above −100% per period. A negative rate shows how losses compound.

When is the deposit added?

At the end of each period, after that period's return.

Is this a forecast?

No. It applies the same rate every period; real returns are uneven and can be negative.

Results are estimates for education; your broker's contract specification and prices decide the real values. Trading leveraged products carries a high risk of losing money.
